Does it compile? if so please commit it.

Indeed most of those changes in this patch should have been a independent 
commit.

Whatever change forward you do to the code that compiles and do not breaks 
existing functionality deserves a commit. If you don't you may suffer the 
development tension syndrome. So commit, reduce the delta and relax.
