Hi Albert,

though CLAM's NetworkEditor supports PortAudio I personally always use
the native Jack backend, which is the one that works best no Linux.
PortAudio is often used in Windows and MacOSX.

I'm copying this to clam-devel in case some developer have also found
this bug annoying and wants to give feedback at ubuntu's bug tracker.

I see how this is an annoying problem for mixxx. If the situation
doesn't change maybe it is worth to take the CLAM approach of having a
abstract backend layer (we call it NetworkPlayer) that can be
implemented either using PortAudio or Jack directly or CoreAudio, etc. 
Of course this is not the ideal solution...
