As you were hacking with CLAM Annotator i guess you know that getting the 
corresponding XML with the chords is something you can already do with 
ChordExtractor commandline tool which comes bundled with, and can run, from 
CLAM Annotator. Chordata was addressed to a different kind of user so unlike 
Annotator, i considered disabling xml saving and loading simpler. But, anyway, 
you are not the only one to suggest that, so, could you (or anyone also 
interested) develop further the use case? Do you want the xml to recall it 
later in chordata? to export to another application?
