It is not a known issue. Last year we experienced some problems 
regarding the graphics on RedHat 9 - but was just that FLTK did not find 
the *right* opengl lib to link at run-time.

Deactivating DRI is fine - SMS Tools graphics are efficient enough to 
work reasonably well over software rendering.
