i forget mention some things about video drivers...

(Xavier point me some things on irc)
i have nvidia cards:
in one computer with 'nvidia' (binary) driver an in another with 'nv' (FS one)

for example in the one with the nv, when it runs complains about:
Xlib:  extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0"

yes, i have:

Section "Module"
Load "dri"
Load "glx"

in xorg.conf

the one with the nv driver (XFX, GeForce FX5200) is the ubuntu dapper
one, some time ago i had nvidia running too, but last time i tried to
back to nvidia driver i coudn't start X indeed after a lot of
compilings and options editings..., i will try again with that and
maybe for sake of simplicity take advantage of this and install feisty
from scratch and try again with the binaries from first...

the another one is a GeForce4 MX 420...
